Tips on helping students and patrons research this month's topic
Your Home State!
GO is the key to great state reports. We have all the resources kids need to research their home state in depth. The best place to start is the America the Beautiful database, available right on your GO home screen.
Simply click on the state you want to learn more about. Easily browse entries on that state's history, geography, economy, culture, government, major cities, and more!

Make a Topographical 3-D State Map
Grades 3–5
Students will learn about topographical maps through a study of their state map. They will show their understanding by creating a three-dimensional topographical map of the state

Integrate visual information (e.g., in charts, graphs, photographs, videos, or maps) with other information in print and digital texts.
With our interactive maps of North
America, students can determine their
state's major crop, whether famous
explorers crossed their home state, the native tribes that used to occupy their the land, among many other fascinating facts. It's a great way for them to integrate visual information into a research report or class discussion.

Simply click on "Clickable Maps" or "Interactive Maps" on the GO Home Screen.
Culture Cross
Compare the culture, economy, and history of any two states at-a-glance with the Culture Cross feature. Just pick two states and get side-by-side texts about them, making it easy for students to compare and contrast many aspects of different states.

Just visit the Lands and People database and click "Culture Cross" to get started.
